A tribute to Supermemo

SupermemoI’ve been using Supermemo for close to 1o years now. Can’t think of any other program even close to that.

Supermemo is based on a scientific theory of how human memory works. Basing on that theory a method was created, which allows predicting when the once memorized item will reach the stage when it is likely to be forgotten.

Applying the formula to each item, the program makes you repeat them exactly when it is necessary. Remarkable efficiency of learning process is achieved.

There have been at least six languages that I was studying with Supermemo support, last of them Russian. Occasionally I leveraged on it in other areas of knowledge, e.g. history. Everything that can be reduced to question/answer form is supported just fine.

I would recommend the program, but my experience tells me the effort would be wasted. None of my friends I demonstrated it to managed to get over the horribly over-engineered interface or maintain required persistence in her learning process.

I will retain this particular competitive advantage of mine for years to come.
