Diamonds Neverdie

Jon ‘Neverdie’ Jacobs bought himself a space resort worth $100k in a virtual reality known as Project Entropia.

Reading on, this new purchase may turn out to be a good investment in the end, as the owner..

..will be awarded 1000 apartment deeds to rent out to in-game players, 100 mall shopping boths and market stalls, all hunting and mining taxation rights, and operating control and revenues from event areas.

Project Entropia players are able to exchange virtual money to real currency in both directions.

Real estate supply is after all limited, so maybe virtual estate is the market of the future?

Who will pay real money for virtual stuff? The same people who were conditioned to pay for worthless diamonds..

Learning Russian

A morning messAnother weekend, another attempt to learn Russian. It’s not exactly as easy as I initially thought, even though I did have contact with the language in a basic school. Been quite a long time, it seems:)

Nevertheless, here are some useful links that I found during the process:

Quite decent Russian grammar reference here,

For more financial terms in Russian than you ever wanted to know you can check here,

And some free dictionary there.

Welcome to Ukraine

Lounge in VienAnd so almost all of last week I spent working in Kiev, which was actually my first ever visit to the Ukraine.

I don’t have to mention that I was more than happy for the opportunity, though as it turned out that I am still to see more of the country than the airport and the hotel. That’s the beauty of short and intensive projects, which are still my favorite ones, anyway.

My companions enjoyed the stay far less than myself, which is probably due to their having more private lives while less inclination for travelling. Also we were out of luck in finding some acceptable food, starting from miserable breakfest served in the hotel to less than impressive dishes in restaurants we were able to find.

Restaurant in Lybid hotelOnly in late evenings we could relax a bit in the restaurant..
